Candidates are encouraged to download the forms needed from this website however, if you are unable to download the documents, a packet can be picked up (by appointment) or a packet can be mailed to you.  To request a packet be mailed or to schedule an appointment for pick up, call the Elections Division at (559) 675-7720, toll free at (800) 435-0509 or email us at [email protected]

If you do not meet the filing deadlines to be listed on the ballot, you may run for office as a “Write-in” Candidate.

Forms below do not constitute all documents necessary for your candidacy. Certain documents must be issued directly from the County Clerk’s office during your initial and subsequent appointments.

 Follow the steps below:

STEP 2

Complete and email the Candidate Worksheet to: [email protected]. If you are unable to return forms by email, you can do so by mail, fax or by appointment.

  Appointments Are Required

Walk-In’s will only be considered on an emergency basis to ensure that persons with appointments are not disenfranchised.

STEP 3

Elections Division staff will contact you by phone to go over the process, deadlines, forms, and fees required.

STEP 4

Return all required forms via email to: [email protected].

If you are unable to return forms by email, you can do so by mail, fax or by appointment.

Elections Division staff will review your documents and will contact you to advise you of your status and to schedule your appointment(s).

STEP 5

When you arrive for final appointment, please bring all original documents and fees. Fees are payable with cash, debit or credit card, cashier’s check or personal check. Please make checks payable to Madera County Elections. NOTE: Debit/Credit card transactions will incur an additional service fee of at least $2.50. All returned checks will be subject to a returned check fee of $25.00.

More than one appointment may be necessary to complete your candidacy documents and each appointment will be limited to 30 minutes so please be sure to have all original documents.

The Filer Access Portal is a web-based, data entry filing system that allows candidates and campaign committees to submit disclosure reports mandated by California’s Political Reform Act to the Electronic Filing System free of charge.

Use the Filer Access Portal to create electronic campaign statements. Before you begin you must have received your Electronic Filing System filer identification number and password. To get a filer identification number and password for your committee, call the Madera County Elections office at (559) 675-7720 or toll free at (800)-435-0509. Hours: Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm.
