*Governor’s Proclamation for November 3, 2026 General Election
Public Notice
Important Dates to Remember
- The last day to register to vote for the November 3, 2026, General Election is October 19, 2026.
- All California active registered voters will receive a ballot for the November 3, 2026, General Election.
- County elections officials will begin mailing ballots by October 5, 2026.
- Secure ballot drop-off locations open on October 6, 2026.
- Ballots can be dropped off at a drop-off location, county elections office, or returned by mail.
- The first vote centers open for early in-person voting in all Voter’s Choice Act counties on October 24, 2026.
- In person early voting locations throughout California will be open on Saturday, October 31, 2026.
- November 3 is the last day to vote in-person or return a ballot by 8:00 p.m. Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Vote-by-mail ballots must be postmarked no later than November 3. If mailing on Elections Day, get a hand-stamped postmark from a postal employee inside a United States Post Office.

Candidate filing opens on July 13, 2026 for the November 3, 2026 General Election. The last day to file nomination documents for this election is August 7, 2026 by 5 p.m.
If the incumbent fails to file the filing period will extend through August 14, 2026. The extended filing period does not extend for offices where the incumbent has termed out of office or if there have been boundary line changes since the last held election for that term, or if the district changes the way in which a district is elected (i.e. from qualified and elected at large to qualified and elected by district).

The Filer Access Portal is a web-based, data entry filing system that allows candidates and campaign committees to submit disclosure reports mandated by California’s Political Reform Act to the Electronic Filing System free of charge.
Use the Filer Access Portal to create electronic campaign statements. Before you begin you must have received your Electronic Filing System filer identification number and password. To get a filer identification number and password for your committee, call the Madera County Elections office at (559)-675-7720 or toll free at (800)-435-0509. Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
